Walter L. Turner

I am Walter L. Turner, Vice President at Secure Web Apps, a cybersecurity product and services company. We have a server protection product that has not been hacked in over 3 years. In the process of developing our product, we looked at cyber attacks happening all over the world, reviewed research in the field and read books on the subject. During all this, it occurred to me that, while there is much in the way of information for the cybersecurity professional, there was little for the non-technical person, the homeowner, business owner or even CEO and board member. There are also, easy, inexpensive things that can be done to lessen the attack surface. I decided to fill the gap somewhat by writing the book ‘Cyber Security for You’. Easy to follow examples are used and a glossary of terms is included in the back. Like all fields, cybersecurity keeps changing so I hope you will forgive the lack of inclusion of doxing and diddling. The book is available on Amazon by searching on the title. It is priced at $3.58 the month of October with all proceeds going to Amazon. It has been an unqualified success among my relatives and is 5-star rated. I hope you like it too.
Oh, I was supposed to write something about me. I was first exposed to cybersecurity in the 1980’s when asked to provide networking to 280+ correspondent banks. My contributions, a little ahead of the time, were decoy honeypots, time of day and week controls, extra authentication (like 2 factor), protocols, and the use of red (attack) and blue (defense) teams to improve the cybersecurity design. Roll forward a few years and still doing cybersecurity only a little older and with 9 kids.
