Cybersecurity Careers – CISO by Karen Tulloh

Continuing our series exploring various cybersecurity careers. This is a project I have recently started in hopes that it will help those who want to enter the #cyber field or grow in their current cyber careers. It’s interesting to see what other people do, what path they’ve taken to get there, and where they want to go next.

Title: CISO (Chief Information Security Officer)

How many years have you worked in cybersecurity? 10+

What do you do in your job? Information Security Management, Risk Management.

What do you like most about your job? Helping colleagues arrive at a solution that is of benefit to the business. Also recognizing and managing risk.

Least? Bureaucracy, office politics (editor’s note – I think most of us would agree)

What work did you do prior to this position? Risk management project, Self-employed consultant

What do you see as your next step? I have reached my goal

Salary range for your position? Approximately $120K in US dollars

Certifications? Royal Holloway Post-Grad Certification in Infosec, Security+, CISM, CISSP

What do you do to stay up-to-date or grow in cyber? Attend conferences, chapter meetings and webinars
